This two departments go along different scientific profiles and objectives.
BD deals with research in the fields of historical, economic and urban
geography, concerning the whole country and in particular Budapest and
the Central Region of Hungary. Applied research activities concentrate
on the urban development of Budapest.
DRDR treats problems of spatial and social inequalities, social discrepancies,
migration, local societies and identities in declining rural areas and
small villages. Composing development strategies for micro-regions in
Pest County remains another basic element of the department’s activities.
